Craftsmanship
Where are élosy pieces made?
Every élosy piece is crafted in-house at our family atelier in Sibiu, Romania. The atelier was founded and is still managed by our co-founder Maria Cernatescu.
Who makes élosy products?
Every élosy piece is crafted by a dedicated team with generational knowledge, many of whom have worked alongside Maria for years if not decades. Each product comes with a card that reveals the names of the artisans that were involved in the making, celebrating their work and passion.
Are two pieces identical?
We strive to keep all pieces within the same series as consistent as possible.
However, reclaimed leather naturally carries small imperfections, and handwork introduces subtle differences. These nuances cannot be replicated — they are quiet signatures of the hands and materials involved.
Once a series is produced, the specific leather is no longer available. This means each piece is part of a limited series that will never be produced again.
Materials
What are reclaimed leathers?
Reclaimed materials are high-quality leathers that already exist in the supply chain — sourced responsibly from trusted European partners. They include unused surplus, discontinued colours, and leftover hides originally produced for luxury houses you know.
Deadstock leather is a specific type of reclaimed material: surplus hides produced for luxury brands and never used that are available to stockists. We use even smaller batches, that are not commercially available.
What happens to your own production leftovers?
We use as much of our material as possible. Smaller fragments often become straps, trims, or accessories that carry our philosphy forward.
Leather Care
How should I care for my élosy item?
Leather is a living material, and with gentle care it will keep its beauty for years. To clean your élosy piece, we recommend:
- For smooth or grained leather, use a soft cloth with a neutral leather cream to nourish and restore its surface.
- Minor marks may be reduced with a tinted cream, applied sparingly.
- For suede, use a soft bristle brush to lift away dust and refresh the nap.
- Always avoid water, harsh cleaners, or chemicals, as these can damage the leather.
Over time, your bag will develop a natural patina — a testament to its journey alongside you.
