By day, the room is washed in soft London light. Sun moves slowly across patterned walls, curated magazines, small details that invite pause rather than distraction. Outside, the gentle chaos of Portobello unfolds — markets, cafés, familiar corners worth wandering. Downstairs, the kitchen hums all day: naan rolls, crumpety eggs kejriwal, French toast — flavours that linger long after you leave the table. A reminder that pleasure does not need ceremony.
For the creatively inclined, the walls speak too. The Lodgings are home to a considered collection of South Asian art — impressionistic brushstrokes, pop references, intimate self-portraits. The mythic layered gently with the everyday. Each piece carries a story, thoughtfully shared by Rajiv, the curator, for those who wish to look a little longer.

“Once you’re inside the lodgings, curled up on your printed sofa, sipping chai and nibbling on freshly-baked nankhatai biscuits, with vinyl spinning as you flip through the latest issue of Granta, it’s very hard to leave indeed.”

As evening settles, the city fades back into the room. Curtains drawn. A signature cocktail carried upstairs. Vinyl lowered gently onto the player. Blues fill the space — warm, slow, seductive. Sheets wait. The night stretches just long enough to feel complete.
A place to stay. A place to return to yourself.
To travel lightly — and well — we carry our weekend in the élosy Large Tote. Spacious, unforced, made to hold the essentials and whatever the city adds along the way. At ease in the room. Ready when it’s time to wander again.
