Maria, one of the founders and also a mother, has spoken the leather language for over thirty years now. She began in her twenties, in a small basement workshop, with no formal training — only discipline, patience, and an uncompromising eye. Piece by piece, she built an atelier from the ground up, checking every detail by hand, learning through doing, and letting the work lead the way.
"I never learned how to make a difference between the minutes spent at home and the minutes spent at the factory. Because they have always been the same for me. In the end, this is my life."
Today, that atelier is Alan Trade — a space shaped by generations of knowledge and people who have grown alongside it. Many of the hands crafting élosy pieces are hands Maria has known for decades. They cut, stitch, edge-paint, and finish each piece in-house, under one roof, guided by shared standards and a deep respect for the craft. Their names accompany every élosy piece we send out — a quiet acknowledgment of the people behind the work.
Working this way gives us something rare: full control. Over quality, ethics, responsibility, and care. Nothing is outsourced, nothing obscured. Every stage is visible, accountable, and refined with intention. It is slower. It is exacting. And it is the only way we choose to work.
